Career

Graduated in Fine Arts (Painting) by the Faculty of Fine Arts (FBAUL) , University of Lisbon in 1982.

Américo Filipe (Meco) started his activity as a plastic artist and painter in the 1970s.

The “Bandeiras” exhibition at the Eppingen Museum was his first (solo) presentation at a German museum.

Internationally participated in the exhibitions: “Saifu” at the Museum of Modern Art in Saitama, Tokyo, Japan (1993), at the Montserrat Gallery, New York, New York, USA (1996) and “Bandeiras”, Eppingen Museum, Germany (1998).

He also carried out curatorial projects for the exhibitions: “Estrada Marginal”, Museu Nacional do Traje, Lisbon, Portugal (1987), “Quarto Crescente”, Pena National Palace, Sintra, Portugal (1989), “Saifu”,Museum of Modern Art in Saitama, Tokyo, Japan (1993) and “Bandeiras”, Eppingen Museum, Germany (1998).

Collaborated in the magazines: “Arte Opinão” nº9 Portugal (1980) with a drawing, “Artes e Leilões” nº25 Portugal (1994) with a project and “Arte Ibérica” nº 4 Portugal (1997) with a project.
